Vision Statement

The statements below provide a broad view of what we desire to achieve as a local church in the five areas related to our purpose.

• Membership
  

  To have deep fellowship among believers through the expression of the "one anothers" of Scripture in the power of the Holy Spirit. The fellowship is desired in small group relationships, corporate worship and one-to-one relationships and evidenced by the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

• Maturity
  

  To have every believer and leader modeling godliness and integrity as a lifestyle. To provide training for effective godly living as leaders, parents, married couples, employees, etc. which will result in strong, maturing believers.

• Ministry
  

  To have committed believers (members) of our local church joyfully serving the Lord according to his/her giftedness in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Pastor equipping (training) them for ministry.

• Missions
  

  To have every believer aggressively impacting unbelievers in his/her world of influence through a godly lifestyle and verbally sharing of the Gospel of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit here in the United States and other countries. To be a haven for religious (but lost) people in our area by developing and maintaining an effective outreach to them.

• Magnify
  

  To provide meaningful times of worship for believers, using believers in prayer, singing, testimonies… with prayer being foundational in a caring, loving atmosphere. This worship experience should result in believers leaving with excitement for God and prepared to impact their world for Christ.

We Want to Value

As a church, our values largely determind our action. Here are seven items we want to value and strongly encourage in every aspect of our ministry.

• A commitment to revelant Bible exposition (II Timothy 3:16, 17) We want to teach God's word in its context and explain its application to daily life.

• A commitment to prayer (Acts 2; Acts 4; Acts 13; John 15:1-9) This should be evident in services, leaders meetings and small groups. We must pray as if everything depended upon God. The ministries and activities of this church will be characterized by a reliance on prayer in their conception, planning and execution.

• A commitment for every believer to minister (Romans 12:3-8; Ephesians 4:11-16) Believers, not a pastor are to do the ministering, servicing with the church. Pastor is to equip believers. Therefore, the ministry of Roaring Brook will be placed as much as posible in the hands of non-vocational workers.

• A commitment to small groups (Acts 2:26; Romans 6:15; Galatians 6:1-10) The one anothers of Scripture can be applied best in groups of fifteen or less. We cannot build deep relationships with a large number of people.

• An appreciation for creativity and innovation (Romans 12:2; II Corinthians 5:17) We want to seek the Lord's wisdom in developing methods for effectively fulfilling our purpose. While proven techniques should not be discarded at whim, we encourage creativity and innovation, flexibility and adaptability. We are more concerned with effectiveness in ministry than with adherence to tradition.

• A commitment to excellence (Romans 8:32; Colossians 3:23) We want to do well in each aspect of our ministry. The Lord Himself is a God of excellence, as shown by the beauty of creation, further, He gave the best that He had, His only Son, for us (Romans 8:32). We will seek to maintain a high standard of excellence for God's glory.

• A commitment to growth (I Corinthains 3:5-10) We want to see our church grow spiritually and numerically. This will be accomplished by seeking to be a healthy church. We want to reach as many people as possible with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we will pursue methods and policies which will facilitate numerical growth, without compromising in any way our integrity or our commitment to Biblical truth.

• Do not expect nonmembers to contribute financially.
• Seek changed lives through Christ.
• Are committed to correct doctrine.
• Emphasize prayer.
• Let the Bible be our source of doctrine.
